Rev. Kathy Bueker Sweet, Pastor

Kathy began serving as the Lead Pastor for RUMC on July 1, 2012. Former churches she has served include: Kankakee Saint Mark, Shields Chapel-Locust Lane, Mt. Pleasant-Canton Evangelical, Alexis-Henderson-North Henderson, Decatur Grace Associate and Magnolia-McNabb United Methodist Churches. Kathy has a B.A. from the University of Evansville and a Master of Divinity from Drew University Theological School. Kathy was ordained an Elder in The United Methodist Church in 1988. Kathy and her husband, Rev. Craig Sweet, have two children and two granddaughters.

April Patek, Director of Family Ministries

April started working at RUMC in December of 2014. She grew up in Metamora, IL and has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, flute primary, from Northern Illinois University. In 2012 she received a Masters of Art in Christian Education from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston and is in the process of being ordained as a deacon. In her spare time April enjoys being with friends, reading, playing flute, knitting, and being with her cats. 

Chelsea Gerberding, Office Manager 

Chelsea began working with multimedia at RUMC in the fall of 2008. She started full time in the office in 2013. Chelsea has a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in media studies and currentlly resides in Springfield.

Stephen Wilson, Spiritual Formation Director

Stephen Wilson is a Certified Lay Minister of the United Methodist Church. He has lived a life of commitment to social service, serving the people of the State of Illinois as an Assistant Attorney General, Chief Counsel to the Illinois Department of Labor and as a manager with the Illinois Department of Employment Security, Appeals Division. He was born in Alton, Illinois and grew up in Danville, Illinois. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois and was admitted to the Illinois bar as an attorney and counselor at law in 1974. He is married to Jo Ann and has three children, Doug, Caroline and Jessica.


David McCafferty, Contemporary Worship Director

David has been on staff at RUMC since 2002. He has a degree in Vocal Music Education from Western Illinois University. During the week he teaches vocal music at Rochester Middle School and is also the district percussion coordinator. David lives in Rochester with his wife, Tish, and their two children.

Linda Fairchild, Sanctuary Choir Director

Linda Fairchild has been choir director at Rochester United Methodist Church since 1992. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 1960 and an MS degree in 1988. She and husband Roger reside on a farm east of Rochester. They are the parents of 4 grown children, and have 9 grand-children and 2 great-grandchildren.
